In this exhibition, Madeleine Slavick presents the poetry, poverty, and generosity of Hong Kong.

The body of work draws attention to her multi-faceted practice as writer and photographer, artist and activist. It draws attention to the many natures of Hong Kong – the natural beauty and the pollution, the rural and urban, insects and high rises, grit and wealth.

The photographic images of香 HONG 港 KONG 嗓 SONG and the accompanying book ‘Fifty Stories Fifty Images’ trace nearly twenty-five years of living in Hong Kong.

About the Artist:

Madeleine Slavick has exhibited her photography internationally (Austria, Canada, Egypt, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and USA) and has published several books of photography, poetry, and non-fiction --  'Fifty Stories Fifty Images' on which ‘Hong Kong Song’ is based, 'Something Beautiful Might Happen' (Tokyo, 2010), 'China Voices' (Hong Kong, 2010), 'delicate access '(Hong Kong, 2004), and 'Round – Poems and Photographs of Asia' (Hong Kong, 1997).
