Auckland Festival of Photography's Annual Commission is an annual public commission of photographic art by a fine arts photographer in New Zealand. The Commission provides a unique opportunity to support and promote an Auckland photographic talent as well as creating an important cultural and artistic asset for present and future Auckland, NZ and international audiences to enjoy.
Support for emerging, mid-career and major New Zealand photographers is one of the essential aims of the Annual Commission. The commissioned works represent not only a timely enduring presence in the photographic arts community nationally but also more importantly internationally. The selected artists to date are Roberta Thornley (2011), James K Lowe (2012), Jennifer Mason (2013) and Tanu Gago (2014). This exhibition at the Pah Homestead showcases the work produced for the Annual Commission over the past four years.
