In its ongoing commitment to support and provide opportunities for live performance, Pah Homestead is proud to present the Sunday Concert Series 2024 - an eclectic array of musicians and musical genres showcasing local performers.

Formed in the mid-2000’s The Circling Sun is a sonic collective from Tāmaki Makaurau focused on paying homage to progressive Afrocentric Jazz-inspired music.

Stylistically, the band draws influence from African American pioneers Alice Coltrane, Yusef Lateef and Pharoah Sanders whilst fusing it with a love and appreciation of African, Latin and modern musical forms - all combined with a unique South Pacific flavour and sensibility.

The Circling Sun has Performed at the Wellington International Jazz Festival, Melbourne’s The Eighty-Six Festival and CJC Auckland. Previous residencies include - The Golden Dawn, Xuxu, Las Vegas Club, Ponsonby Social Club and East St Hall.


Featuring some of the finest music talent in Aotearoa, members include:

Ben Turua (Avantdale Bowling Club, Nathan Haines) - Acoustic Bass
Julien Dyne (Ladi6,  Avantdale Bowling Club, Solo Soundway Records, Half Hexagon) - Drums / Percussion
J.Y Lee (Yoko Zuna, Chaii, Avantdale Bowling Club, Dave Dobbyn) - Saxophone / Flute
Joe Kaptien (Princess Chelsea / Avantdale Bowling Club) - Keyboard / Trumpet
Cameron Allen (Opensouls ) - Saxophone / Keyboard
Finn Scholes (Carnivorous Plant Society) - Trumpet and Vibraphone
Matt Hunter aka Kenny Sterling (Manuka Recordings, Summer Vee) - Percussion and Choir 


The Circling Sun debut album Spirits was released in 2023 for the prestigious London label Soundway Records receiving high praise worldwide, with dj / radio support from Gilles Peterson , Luke Una, and many other notable tastemakers.

They are currently recording their second record, due for completion in August 2024.
