Angel and Monica perform exciting music for violin and piano from Hungary to New Zealand in this after recital. 

Angel Wen Tao is a year 9 student at Diocesan School for Girls where she is the recipient of of a music scholarship. She studies the violin with Dr John Thomson. Angel participates in the school orchestras and choirs, and has served in leadership positions in various ensembles. In 2022 Angel achieved her ATCL violin in performance. Angel has been awarded top prizes in several competitions, both in New Zealand and in the Singapore. She has been featured as a soloist with several orchestras, most recently the Manukau Symphony Orchestra. Angel enjoys playing chamber music and this year was selected (on viola) for the national finals of the NZ chamber music competition, participating in the Debussy Trio. 

Monica Chang is an Auckland based pianist, teacher and collaborative pianist. As a solo pianist she studied with prominent pianists including Katherine Austin, Rae de L‘isle and Bryan Sayers. She has performed as a concerto soloist with the United Youth Orchestra and the Nelson Symphony Orchestra. She has premiered works for composers such as Nigel Keay and has been a guest orchestral pianist with the Opus Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Monica has been touring as part of the Emanon Duo to audiences nationwide and is the pianist in the wind ensemble Trio Éclat.

Monica’s students have been successful in examinations and university auditions gaining entrance and high achievement awards. She has been involved in collaborative piano at the University of Waikato and was a former Accelerando Junior Academy tutor.  She currently supports a number of music teachers in Auckland as a collaborative artist. 


Music at Midday returns to Pah Homestead with an hour of free live music from 12 to 1pm each Saturday.

Auckland is rich with a diverse range of creative musical talent and we celebrate this every week.  Sit down in the drawing room to enjoy the live music, or peruse the galleries while you listen to the music drifting through the building.
