Taichung is Taiwan’s third largest city, originally known as Da Dun, Taichung now has a population of over 2.6 million. With its rich cultural diversity, and ancient heritage, Taichung has become renowned as a city of culture. Taichung has an active sister-city relationship with the city of Auckland.

The Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition was founded as an art competition for local artists in 1996. It quickly grew to become an international art competition attracting up to 2000 entries per year. Eleven categories are represented, including crafts, sculpture, digital arts, photography, printmaking, water colour painting, oil painting, seal engraving, calligraphy, glue colour painting, and ink wash painting.  

The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City has organised a touring exhibition of winning works from the 18-year history of the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition, featuring a selection of the most spectacular and intriguing works from this long-running international art event. The Pah Homestead is proud to be the venue for the 2014 Taichung City Da Dun Fine Arts Exchange Exhibition.
