Fecund Collaborations showcases artworks from the Collection that have two authors.
Ordinarily artists operate autonomously and their works subsequently have an independent and consistent aesthetic. However these works are examples of a different creative process.
Here the singular form of the art object stems from two cooperating pairs of hands, and hence the result is reflective of their process and relationship. The works in this exhibition are characterised by the relationships of the collaborators.
In states of cooperation, play and negotiation, the artists are able to practice their individuality and in doing so create something new, together.
