Emma Qiu

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Emma Qiu is a classical pianist in her final year of a BMus(Hons) at the University of Auckland. Emma performs extensively as a soloist and collaborator, including as Principal Keyboard of National Youth Orchestra 2023-4. Her love of singing has lead her to work with New Zealand Opera as répétiteur for Te Hui Paroro.

Her accolades include the Bill Clayton Memorial Scholarship (NYO 2023), finalist in the Te Kōkī School of Music Concerto Competition, and Northland Regional Winner at the NZCT Chamber Music Contest. Recently, she was awarded the Anne Bellam Scholarship to further her studies at summer music academies in Switzerland and Poland.

Currently, Emma studies under Dr Jarred Dunn (Canada) and Dr Sarah Watkins at the University of Auckland. She also sings, plays violin, and dabbles in percussion.

Music at Midday returns to Pah Homestead with an hour of free live music from 12 to 1pm each Saturday.

Auckland is rich with a diverse range of creative musical talent and we celebrate this every week.  Sit down in the drawing room to enjoy the live music, or peruse the galleries while you listen to the music drifting through the building.
