In our Artist Workshop Series, local artists share their inspiration and skills with children in a series of free classes.

Join practising artist Cindel Vlietman as she demonstrates her resourceful nature in utilising pictures and words.

The workshop will focus on ready-made images from books and magazines to cultivate a personal picture to frame and adorn your room. Guided with techniques to use the imagination, our young artists will see the endless potential of photographs and text.

No reservation is required, but spaces will be limited and available on a first-come basis.


ABOUT THE ARTIST

Cindel Vlietman, b. 2000 resides and works in Tāmaki Makaurau as an artist and Gallery Lead. She recently graduated with her Master of Fine Arts at Elam in 2023, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2022. Working across various mediums, Vlietman consciously utilises subject matter from everyday life to acknowledge the beauty within the familiar, such as 35mm film photography, textiles, mosaics and collages.

Practising within mixed media, her reimagined products aim to bring light to the aesthetic of the discarded. Vlietman continues to relish in the never-ending capacities within sitting material and inspects the alchemy that broad mediums contain.
