To mark the 100th anniversary of Douglas Lilburn’s birth and as a celebration of his extraordinary influence on New Zealand’s music and creative landscape, Gareth Watkins presents Composed in Light, a photographic series of fifteen prominent and up-and-coming local composers.
Through skill and perseverance, Douglas Lilburn demonstrated to generations of musicians that being a professional composer in the New Zealand context was achievable and something to strive for. It seems an entirely fitting tribute to Lilburn and his legacy to showcase this talented group of New Zealand composers in this exhibition at the Pah Homestead.
