Chattering Creases is a collection of experimental photographic prints that investigate environmental physics. This exhibition explores relationships between the ebb and flow of the natural world and chance encounters evidenced in each mark, distortion, and colour that appears. Daisy Nicholas’ pieces explore the salty coast and exposed bedrock of the East Auckland shoreline. Her large-scale cyanotype mimic watery ripples utilising durational exposure to recognise the factors acting upon the fabric.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Daisy Nicholas has a practice based in environmental emulsion with the goal of slowing down and taking time to recognise the small energies that make up the living world. She plays with chance encounters, creating large-scale environmental cyanotypes activating her local environment. She allows photographic chemicals to interact with wave patterns and minerals within the salty shallow water, indexing the tide and blooms of salt where the chemicals and minerals interact.
